Expert Panel to Speak about Transformative Issues for Special Collections at July 7 Web Conference
Washington DC--The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is pleased
to announce the panel of experts who will respond to the recent ARL
Special Collections Working Group report at the upcoming Web conference
on "Transformative Issues for Special Collections in ARL Libraries,"
July 7, 2009, 1:00-2:00 p.m. EDT.
The working group invites community feedback and discussion of its
recent report on the important issues facing special collections. To
spark dialogue, Alice Prochaska, chair of the working group, will host
a panel of leaders in the special collections community as they briefly
reflect on points raised in the report and offer other provocative
insights about critical issues relevant to the management and use of
special collections in research, teaching, and learning. The Web
conference audience will join the discussion with questions for the
panelists and their own comments on the transformation occurring in
special collections organizations. The discussion will inform planning
for a forum on special collections that ARL will host along with the
Coalition for Networked Information in Washington DC, October 15-16,
2009.
