Re: [ARSCLIST] NY Times: Researchers Play Tune Recorded before Edison

You mean such famous singers as Abela, Aldrich, Allix, von Skolondz, Anitua, Baracchini, Barbieri, Battaglioli-Leotti, Bendinelli, Bevignani, Beyle, Blancard, Boccolini-Zacconi, Bonetti, César, Cesari, Clauzure, Cunego, Damacco, Del Lungo, Druetti, Dupré, Eck, Emanuelli, Famin, Fer, von Fladung, Frau, Gilly, von Goetz, Heilbronner, Henke, Hotkovska, Ibos, Janni, Korb, Marrugat, Willaume-Lambert, Lassalle, Laute-Brun, Llopart, Lopez-Nunes, Lucci, MacLennan, Maguenat, Ménard, Molina, Montesanto, Muratet, Navia, Ober, Olghina, Ordugna, Paoli, Perya, Ponzano, Pucci, Raynal, Roggero, Romanitza, Roselli, Salazar, Schulghina, Sens, Solari, Sorgi, Taccani, Vasseur, Weidemann, AND Zizolfi?

All great names in someone's firmament of outstanding operatic performers, and exceptions are granted. I don't know who had worse musical taste, the agents whom Thomas sent to Europe to "scout" this talent(?) or Thomas himself, who consigned all of them to the vaults for over half a century! A great documentary CD, but hardly outstanding opera.
