RE: Ultrasonic spot cleaning on textiles.

Karina,
This short response to your query is only a vague recollection and I hope
not the beginning of a wild goose chase.
I think that some years (perhaps as many as 15-18) a woman ( Judith Jerde,
sp?) working at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in
New York was doing some initial trial of ultrasonic cleaning of textiles.
Sorry, but I remember no more than that. You might make an inquiry there
to see if anyone remembers the work, or if they have contact info for Ms
Jerde. Try contacting Chris Paulocik, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Costume
Institute, 1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10028, USA. telephone
212-570-3908.
good luck,
Kathy Francis, Gardner Museum, Boston
