The CIMCIM Bibliography

Recommendations for the Conservation of Musical Instruments: an
Annotated Bibliography, CIMCIM Publications No.1, 1993

At a meeting of the musical instrument collections committee (CIMCIM)
of the International Council of Museums a need was expressed for a
publication which addressed the ethical and philosophical approaches
to the treatment and use of musical instruments in public collections.
This publication resulted from those discussions and provides a short
list of essential readings in musical instrument conservation. It is
intended primarily for those in charge of museum collections who, for
whatever reason, are unable to get access to the literature. The
document provides brief abstracts of 20 texts, and also provides lists
of publishers' addresses, and provides an excellent starting point for
readings on this subject.

The full text of the article is too lengthy for posting to a
distribution list (54479 bytes) and may be obtained by sending a
message to:

mailserv@nrm.se

with the first line in the body of the message, unindented, containing
the command:

SEND CIMBIB.TXT

(Please note that unless this command is issued *EXACTLY* as stated
here, your request will not be processed. That means: using the
indicated address, no blank line at the start of the message, no
"Greetings from Calgary" at the start of the message, and not even one
inadvertent blank space preceding the SEND command.)
