JAES articles by Capitol and Putnam about, respectively, Capitol Tower and United Recording, both in 
Hollywood. Search at AES site and you'll find the references and the option to purchase PDF's.

"The Radio Manual," forgot the author, Sterling seems to stick in my mind. Detailed description of 
CBS radio studios in NYC, circa 1940's.

Putnam's article about United is very interesting. It offers some detail on the swinging panels that 
control reverberance of the big rooms. Capitol's article details the live chambers, among other 
things.

I'm sure there are plenty of other JAES articles, those were just the two that sprang to mind.
