Does anybody know the musicological origins of the Jamaican Mento song "Fan Me Soldier man Fan Me"? It is my understanding the song originated sometime during World War II,but just how did this very strange song come to be ? 

Does anyone have a complete set of lyrics,especially a decipherable one,that isn't mostly nonsense syllables? Is there a really good musicological refence that might go into this sort of stuff in detail ?
