This freeware program (PC only) is worthwhile not as one's regular converter/compressor but as a tool for formats one deals with only rarely. It is very powerful, reading many formats it does not write and writing several dozen standard and arcane video and audio file types. It contains the needed codecs so does not require their installation into Windows, but also is very slow to load. The power it offers has a corollary of very involved interfaces. Still, when faced with a new format or one at which your preferred tool balks, it's worth the price.
