 Richard Strauss made many records for DGG,going back to about 1915 or so.(The date of a DGG 78 of the two "Rosenkavelier" waltzes,I have.)There are a number of recordings with the Bavarian SOO (as opposed to the early electrical 78s with the Berlin SOO),all of the ones I am aware of date from the early Lp era,and were issued on DGG,as well as American Decca,and are fairly widely available.I assume these are the ones you mean.

The Japanese Festival Orchestra ones,I am completely unaware of,and would like both to hear,and like more details about.

Strauss music:

1. Bavarian State Opera Orch., cond by Strauss: S-5001 - 2 in Japan, 
DGG 67599 - 600 in Europe (4 sides) - this one was reissued on LP:

2. Japanese Festival Orch., cond. Fellmer, issued on Japanese 
Columbia S-3019 - S-3021-S (5 sides)

FER- series I seem to recall as being done by DGG.

Perhaps those bits of date will help: you may have both recordings ?
