----- yes, thank goodness! Columbia claims to have invented the heated stylus
in 1948, but it was really Miessner, about 1922 iIrc.
But some records with compensation exist and they deserve better than
elliptical stylii. Or significant data processing to remove the distortion.
Incidentally, when the Danish State Radio used wax blanks in their
programming (late 1930s-early 40s), they would heat the wax in cabinets (like
everybody else) for cutting and then store them in refrigerators, only to be
taken out just before reproduction.
