Re: [ARSCLIST] MARC Records for Open Reel Tape

Hi, Tim. I was able to find the audio archives records through the Naropa University library's search, but I couldn't find anything that was an open-reel (reel-to-reel) recording. I'd appreciate it if you could point me toward one of those. Thanks!

Christie,

We created over 1400 item level MARC records for our NEA, NEH and Save
America's Treasures audio reformatting project. We went through a rather
extensive analysis with cataloging consultants to identify the
appropriate MARC fields. The records are available in OCLC WorldCat. If
you search on "Naropa" and check the "Sound Recording" box then you'll
find them.

If you would like a few copies of some raw records with the field
numbers clearly marked, then contact me off list and I'll send you a
few.

Subject: [ARSCLIST] MARC Records for Open Reel Tape

I'm looking for examples of how institutions have done item-level MARC cataloging for open reel tape, especially spoken-word. There are so many redundant, optional and seemingly irrelevant fields for audio recordings that I'm interested in comparing our choices to others'. If you've got some publicly-available cataloging like this that you're particularly proud of, I'd really appreciate being pointed toward it.

Thanks!
