Re: [ARSCLIST] Scotch 200 box photograph -Del's Response

Richard,

It is a 5" reel and it very well could be from 1960. It contains a recording of a British radio program about the Old Vic Theatre. There is no date listed. It also says "Made in England" on the back of the box. The gentleman that made the recording was living in England at that time. The tape is in excellent condition.

Hi, Angie,

Do you know what date that tape is from? I'm trying to determine an end-date for the manufacture of 3M 311. It was the only PVC tape that they ever manufactured. How is it holding up? It was introduced in 1960.

IG Farben and BASF made this stuff from 1944 (homogeneous) through 1972 (coated).

Here's a quick scan of a 311 box. It doesn't seem like the same photo though.

I had a client's 111 here about a month ago, but didn't think to scan the box before sending it back.
