Annual Meeting

Western Association for Art Conservation

Annual Meeting & Conference

Pacific Grove, California
September 30 - October 2, 2015

Call for Papers and Save the Date

The Western Association for Art Conservation (WAAC) is accepting proposals for talks to be presented at the 41st Annual Meetings.

Asilomar Conference Grounds and State Park
Pacific Grove (Monterey Bay), CA
Wednesday, September 30 - Friday, October 2, 2015

The location of the meeting, in a State Park on the Pacific Ocean, in the heart of Monterey Bay, will encourage rejuvenation of the heart as well as the mind. Come and enjoy a stimulating conference and enjoy all of salt-scented loveliness the area has to offer. A bonfire with s'mores will welcome attendees on Tuesday night, a pre-dinner cocktail will ease the way into Wednesday's dinner, and a pj's movie night with popcorn will be offered Thursday evening.

But the main attraction, as ever, are the engaging presentations by WAAC members. With that in mind, we are seeking exciting and thought-provoking papers in all areas of conservation and related fields. In the best WAAC tradition, a wide range of presentations are eligible for consideration. We are particularly interested in papers that push the boundaries and challenge the profession to re/consider roles, responsibilities, techniques, and ideas.

Papers related to the topic of California art and history are especially welcome, as this will be the unofficial theme of the meeting. (Other events related to this theme include the Angel's Project, which will take place on Tuesday, September 29, at the Carmel Mission; and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Monterey Art Museum's La Mirada adobe building on Friday, October 2.)

Please keep in mind that individual sessions will be 20 minutes in length. However, suggestions for multi-session panels, incorporating multiple speakers, will also be welcomed.

Questions and proposals can be submitted to:

Catherine Coueignoux
president@waac-us.org

Please submit an abstract no later than August 1, 2015.
