The Angels project will take place on Tuesday September 17, 2013 and will involve a ferry ride across beautiful Elliott Bay to provide vital archival and preservation assistance to The Black Historical Society of Kitsap County. The historical society preserves and celebrates the legacy of the African American pioneers, homesteaders, teachers and civic leaders who rose from the ranks of loggers and laborers who settled in the area around Puget Sound. The society has a wide-ranging collection of documents and other paper-based materials, and objects, clothing and memorabilia. A CAP survey has already been undertaken and a crack team of WAAC angels will assist the historical society to improve the storage conditions at their institution. We will help the society to resolve some of the priority issues identified in the CAP report. WAAC is very grateful to Alice Bear for organizing this project.

Volunteers must sign up via meeting registration so we can organize transit (limit 12 people). Meet at 8am sharp at the staff entrance of Seattle Art Museum (2nd Avenue near University Street) for rides to the ferry (8.30am ferry departure). Lunch will be provided.
