6 CONCLUSION

Standards of Russian icon conservation often differ markedly among museum conservation laboratories in both the United States and Russia today. Perhaps this is a timely topic for discussion by the Icon Group at the next triennial meeting of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Committee for Conservation.
