wax

An animal or plant substance, such as BEESWAX or CARNAUBA WAX , that differs from fat in that it is less greasy, harder, and more brittle. Wax is essentially an ester of monohydric alcohols and fatty acids of high molecular weight, in association with some free acids and alcohols.
