plant wax
A WAX obtained
from various plants, including Rhus verniciflua,
as well as species of Euphorbiacea, which is
frequently included in leather dressings. Plant
waxes are cheaper and generally more easily
available than many of the organic waxes, and are
said to be useful in providing body to the
dressing at a slightly higher softening
temperature. In addition, unlike the animal waxes,
they are more resistant to rancidity, and they
also emulsify well with water. See also: CANDELILLA WAX ;CARNAUBA WAX ;JAPAN WAX ,
