Japan wax
A soft, yellowish WAX having adhesive
properties. It is obtained from the berries of the
Japanese sumac (Rhus verniciflua and other species
of Rhus), and used in some leather dressings. It
is not a true wax but a glyceride, and contains
palmitin with free palmitic acid. It has a
softening range of 50 to 56° C., but upon
being solidified, is likely to have an erratically
lower softening point for some time thereafter.
