1. A completely unsized sheet of paper, and one having low water resistance. See also: ABSORBENT PAPERS . 2. Handmade paper in its initial stage of manufacture, consisting of paper fibers spread evenly over the surface of the hand mold; they are then removed and pressed between felts. As it is unsized, it is very absorbent and has low water resistance. It is generally surface sized to make it suitable for writing or printing. See also: SIZING (1) . (17 , 156 )
