sodium formate
A white. crystalline salt (HCO 2 Na),
prepared by passing carbon monoxide through heated
sodium hydroxide. It is soluble in water and forms
complex compounds with chromic salts. It is used
in chrome tannages to bring about greater tan
fixation. (363 )
