One of the two major composite styles of
bookbinding, the other beingSTATIONERY BINDING .
Letterpress binding refers to the binding of books
intended to be read, as distinct from books used
for written records, i.e., books meant to be
written in. The name derives from the time when
all printing was done by letterpress. The major
forms of letterpress binding include: EDITION BINDING ,LIBRARY BINDING , and
PAMPHLET BINDING ,
as well as the binding of books by hand. See also:
