cover turned-in ( cloth turned-in )

The covering material of a book that is turned over the edges and onto the inside surfaces of the boards, the (uneven) edges of which are covered by the PASTEDOWN . Although the term is generally applied to edition and library bindings, books bound by hand are also usually turned-in.
