question about a silk umbrella

Hello,
Although this does not discuss textile conservation, the writer knows someone who might be willing to donate a Chinese silk umbrella.
If you are interested please contact the writer of the email below.
Thank you.

Subject: I want to know where what to do with this hand made antique
Hello,

I recently had a discussion with a co-worker who had a family heirloom of a hand made silk Chinese umbrella that was given to his grandfather who was an overseer in a South African Indentured Servitude Mine.  It was a gift for him not allowing the other overseers to cut off their ponytails (Q) which is forbidden in chinese traditions.  Each family contributed to the making of the umbrella by embroidering their family name on the umbrella.  Do you have any suggestions?  He may be willing to part with the item if by donating to a museum for display.

Thanks

Michelle Scott
