Thermoplastic polyurethane straps for short-term display

We are about to install an exhibition in which a number of 1980s strapless and off-the-shoulder evening gowns will be displayed on hangers on a hanging rod for a short-term (approx. 8 week) period. While all of the gowns have their own sewn-in hanging straps, we would like to add additional straps for support of certain elements and were considering the use of the new clear bra strap material, both for aesthetic purposes & because it seems to offer better friction and less chance of slippage from the hangers. A quick bit of research suggested that the most common material for this is thermoplastic polyurethane, and I wondered if list members had any thoughts/concerns about using this material for short-term display. (The clear straps would be removed before the gowns are returned to storage.) The gowns were a gift from the designer and are in essentially un-worn condition.

I appreciate any feedback list members can provide!
