Re: lasers and flash



Flash photography is not recommended.  Textiles should be protected from
light as it will cause them to fade.  Sometimes the possiblility of
accumulated damage must be weighed against the necessity of recording an
artifact, but it should not be done without careful consideration.

  Recently in my museum a question has been raised about whether or not
laser
pointers and flash photography are harmful to historic textiles.  Does
anyone
know of any research, or have any experience in this area?
