broadside you reference):
CHERRYDERRY (charadary, carridary)
Striped or checked woven cloth of mixed silk and cotton imported from India
from the late seventeenth century. In Boston, 1728, a runaway servant wore a
"narrow striped Cherrederry gown, turned up with a little flowered red and
white callico, stript homespun quilted petticoat, plain muslin apron"....
They (cherryderrys) were used for women's dresses and handkerchiefs.
