At the Los Angeles County Museum of Art we frequently use silk crepeline and
polyester Stabiltex also known as Tetex. In the past we have bought
Stabiltex from Talas in New York but we are interested in finding another,
hopefully cheaper supplier.
When I read the message and saw the supplier, I remembered that the
precision-made, very strong and stable monofilament polyester fabric used
for making "silk-screens" (for screen printing) used to come from
Switzerland. There were many different thicknesses and thread counts
available. However, it was only available in white and amber.
I found a number of suppliers of Stabiltex when I used my "Copernic"
meta-search engine to do a quick web search. I mention the screen fabric
because it seems that it might be a useful and less expensive alternative
in some cases. Has anyone ever used it?
