The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation?s state-of-the-art textile conservation laboratory is seeking a textile conservation technician. This entry-level part-time position consists of working three days per week for 7.5 hours per day, for up to 1000 hours per year. The technician will assist in carrying out examinations, prepare treatment proposals, perform treatments, write final reports, establish dye samples, maintain the dye laboratory, maintain environmental conditions in the lab and in other areas where assigned, and assist in the survey of textiles. Qualifications for this position are generally gained through completion of a high school education/G.E.D. plus relevant and detailed college course work and one year conservation training as an intern under a qualified conservator. Candidates should have knowledge of and experience working with 17th-early 19th century textiles/costumes and accessories; experience in handling museum objects; manual dexterity to apply relevant !
