Our museum has a permanent exhibit in which we have conditioned
sealed cases. As we are updating the exhibit, we are printing a mural to be
placed on the back wall of one of our cases. The project registrar is concerned
that the canvas, ink, or coating on the mural may offgas. Can anyone offer
advice regarding either the materials being suggested by our graphic designer?
She is recommending Premium Edition Water Resistant Canvas with DuraGraphix Ink
Jet Receptive coating. They will finish the mural by coating it with Glamour II
Veneer, a water-based, acrylic coating. We have contacted the canvas manufacturer and, of course,
what the canvas is made from is proprietary. Any advice about alternate solutions would also be
appreciated. Thank you, Christopher McAfee Senior Conservator Church History The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 50 E.
