**Announcement of two vacancies in Preservation Programs at the National Archives**
Preservation Programs at the National Archives and Records Administration seeks qualified candidates for two senior management position in preservation. The closing date has been reset for May 30, 2008 for both positions. Please see the different scopes of work listed below and specify, as appropriate in your responses, which of the positions is being applied for:
Preservation Program Officer, GS-1001-13/14, in the Preservation Programs of the Office of Records Services - Washington DC. Vacancy Announcement N 08-152 has been posted and amended on the USAJOBS website. The announcement closes 5/30/2008. Position #1 - The scope of this position is to address the preservation needs of NARA's Office of Regional Records Services consisting of 18 regional archives and record center facilities across the United States. Each region operates a program encompassing the full life cycle of records, involving a range of record types and media. Position #2 - The scope of this position includes coordinated special program management and requires project management skill, including information technology uses and digitization in preservation. The incumbent in this position may work on special initiatives related to risk assessment, holdings management systems, digitization initiatives and external partnerships.
Both positions serve as members of Preservation Programs managerial team.
Duties include: --Acts as a program manager and liaison between Preservation Programs and NARA organizations. --Develops budget requests to fund preservation activities for assigned program areas. --Directs, coordinates or participates in preservation projects and studies to resolve complex issues. --Develops and maintains liaison relationships, and represents Preservation Programs and NARA preservation policy to other Federal agencies and non-Federal organizations. --Develops and delineates needs for research and development. --Participates in the active building renovation and new construction program for regional facilities For a fuller description of duties, qualifications and application procedures please visit:
