[PADG:366] Housing oversize atlas

We have an unbound very large atlas for which we are trying to determine
the best housing. It is about 125 sheets printed on both sides,
approximately 20 x 32 x 1.25 in. and quite heavy. There are 14 pre-made
holes along the left margin. It is a unified atlas, so we want to keep
it all together. We would like a housing that provided some level of
support for whenever this would be moved, but with its size and weight,
I'm not sure what would be best. There is some interest in having it
bound, but our library binder doesn't seemed too thrilled at that
prospect. Because of the pre-made holes, I've wondered whether a simple
post binding incorporating a single board back cover and a hinged front
cover might suffice.

How would the collective wisdom on this list deal with a large items
such as this?
