[PADG:79] PARS Reformatting DG

The ALCTS/PARS Reformatting discussion Group will meet from 2-4 pm on 
Saturday, June 26, in the Peabody Plaza International Ballroom F/G. Our 
discussion will focus on managing the transition to digital 
reformatting. Bill Gosling (University Librarian, University of 
Michigan), Carla Montori (Preservation Librarian, University of 
Michigan) and Sherry Byrne (Preservation Librarian, University of 
Chicago) will present their work with the ARL Preservation of Research 
Library Materials Committee to recognize digital reformatting as a 
preservation reformatting method.  Bill will talk about the reception 
and discussion of this work from the point of view of the ARL Library 
Directors.  Carla and Sherry will further describe planning and 
implementation of digital reformatting programs at their respective 
institutions. The session will be open for questions and discussion 
about how and when to promote and apply new reformatting technologies 
in different institutional contexts.
