Brian Baird has joined Heckman Bindery, Inc. as Director of Preservation Services to help that company’s efforts in offering libraries a full range of preservation and conservation services.  Brian has been actively involved in library conservation and preservation activities for 15 years.  He served as a conservator at Princeton University before moving to the University of Kansas to establish their nationally recognized preservation program. 

Brian will oversee Heckman’s Conservation Department, which offers libraries a full range of conservation services to libraries for their rare and general collections materials.  These services include:

Conservation treatment

Custom made enclosures

 Preservation photocopying and digitization

 On demand thesis printing and binding

 Consultation with libraries to assist with:

Collection condition surveys

Preservation and conservation training

Preservation planning

Preservation team leadership 

Brian will also work closely with Heckman’s library binding operations on quality assurance issues and customer satisfaction.
