SPECIAL BYLAWS BALLOT
October 24, 2003
Dear ALCTS member,
In September 2003 you were notified that ALCTS would be distributing a
special ballot to revise sections of the ALCTS Bylaws. It is now time
for you to vote on those revisions.
As noted in September:
"The Board voted to present these bylaws changes to the membership in a
special ballot this fall (2003) instead of waiting for the regular ALA
election cycle. In compliance with ALCTS bylaws, a special ballot
requires a notification of the membership of the date the balloting is
to begin and then at least a 30 day voting period from the mailing of
the ballots. With this message, the ALCTS Board of Directors is
notifying the membership that this special ballot process will begin
October 22, 2003 and close November 25, 2003. The vote will be
electronic. You will receive instructions at the start of the voting
period on voting procedures for the electronic ballot. The results of
the ballot will become effective upon publication of the results in the
December 2003 ALCTS Newsletter Online."
The vote for the bylaws revisions will be one vote, to approve the
revisions or not. The decision was made to have only one vote because
many of the revisions are interconnected and cannot be voted on
separately.
To cast your vote, please follow these instructions:
-- Go to
http://www.ala.org/ALCTSTemplate.cfm?Section=Ballot&Template=/MembersOnly.cfm&ContentID=47394.
-- Log in using your email address or ALA member ID and password.
(NOTE: If you forgot your password, you may look it up at
http://www.ala.org/Template.cfm?Section=Login&template=/security/nopassword.cfm.)
-- Click the "click here to continue" link.
-- This will open the ballot. You will find all the proposed bylaws
changes.
-- Please place your vote by clicking on "yes" or "no" found at the
bottom of the page. Click the submit button to cast your vote.
(NOTE: All votes are final. Once you submit your vote, you will not
able to reenter the site to change your vote.)
Only the bylaws sections that need your consideration are reproduced.
To view the entire ALCTS bylaws go to the ALCTS Web site at:
www.ala.org/alcts, click "ALCTS Manual" from the left hand navigation,
then click "Bylaws."
Please record your vote on or before November 25th. The ballot web site
will close at 3:00 PM Central Standard Time on that day.
On behalf of the ALCTS Board of Directors, we encourage you to
participate in this very important vote.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Brian E. C. Schottlaender, ALCTS President
Carol Pitts Diedrichs, ALCTS Vice President/President-elect
Olivia M. A. Madison, ALCTS Past-President
