We hung this sign (see attached) in the lobby and computer lab, and asked the Dean of Students to address the issue. Although there is not yet a campus-wide policy, it has been discussed in Student Government Association meetings and we hope to see results. We decided not to ban them outright because there are some very legitimate reasons for taking and making brief calls--but not during class and commencement exercises!!! -----Original Message----- From: Schobernd, Beth [mailto:Beth@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, January 25, 2002 8:31 AM To: padg@xxxxxxx Subject: [PADG:1566] cell phones While this is not truly a preservation issue, except for the preservation of sanity, I thought I would throw it out to you for comment. Our academic library is considering banning the use of cell phones, primarily because of the noise and disruption. Have any of your libraries dealt with the issue? Do you have policies to share? If you have decided not to ban them, why? Any input will be greatly appreciated.
