[PADG:1177] RE: mission statements

While we do not have a mission statement for our conservation lab. The
mission statement for our institution has always included preservation.

Here it is:

"The Mission of the Folger Library is to preserve and enhance its
collections; to render the collections accessible to scholars for
advanced research; and to advance understanding and appreciation of the
Library and its collections through interpretive programs for the
public."

I am interested in hearing from my colleagues whose Preservation

Departments have formal mission statements. I'd like to know how that
statement relates to the mission statement of the broader organization
in
which you work. For instance, if your program is part of technical
services, how do the layers of statements fit together? I'm also
curious
about the use to which you put your mission statement, and who the
audience
is.

Thank you in advance for sharing your mission statement with me,
and for
any information you can share. Please feel free to respond to me
off-list
or on-.
