[PADG:1176] Re: ILL - Ariel, photocopies, originals

Elise,

Are you familiar with the "Brittle" program at the University of Kansas Preservation Department?
Information on their web site ...

I am interested in knowing how other library preservation departments
are working with their ILL departments in borrowing materials to replace
missing pages. Please respond to me off the list at ecalvi@xxxxxxxxx
I'll summarize for the list if it seems useful. Thanks.

When placing requests:

- Do you specify that you need the original? (for monographs)

- Do you specify that you do not want Ariel transmitted copies?

- If you receive an Ariel transmitted copy do you accept it? If yes, do
you enlarge the pages back to the original size?

- If you do request originals for monographs, or prefer photocopies sent
by mail to Ariel copies, is your ILL department able to provide this
level of attention to your requests?
