insurance and assets

The Utah State Archives and Records Service is reviewing the way we have listed our assets with our risk management division. We would like to know how other institutions/organizations calculate the worth of the records they are responsible for. We have both a records center and archival holdings.

- Are your figures based on replacement costs? Recovery costs? Value of the information? How did you arrive at those figures?
- Have you had individual items or collections or your entire holdings appraised?
- If you have a records center, do you include insurance costs in any fees you charge your customers?

Below is a list of titles I plan to review. If you have any opinions on their usefulness or can suggest anything that deals with records centers or business records, that too would be a great help.

Thank you for any information you're able to give me.
