BAPnet update, etc.

Hello. I went up to Martinez to talk with Bob Westby Dec. 29. His
departure from Contra Costa County has been put off for two months,
which gives us more time to organize our symposium. He says that
county officials are very enthusiastic about the idea of the symposium
and may be supportive. We think it would be good to have the event
either in Concord or in Martinez itself. Right now, we are thinking about a
date in late May or early June. If you know of any professional meetings
or other imposrtant conflicting events/dates in that period, please let me
know.

Marilyn and I have been talking about our vendors/suppliers data base
project. A number of institutions in the area have been developing lists
individually in recent months, and we hope to be able to draw on all of
them. We would like everyone to be thinking about this issue and giving
us input so that we can get started, probably some time in the next two
months. Please contact Marilyn directly or post it on the list.

The Greater Bay Area Library Council has recently been established to
assist libraries with access to electronic information networks and
contents. If you have think there would be any BAPnet overlap with
them or if you have contacts in the organization, please let us know.

Jan. 11 Barbara Will meeting

I felt after our last meeting that we were still up in the air about whether
we should try to have some sort of vote or consensus process
concerning the status of BAPnet board and officers.

I think that we should present a report on organization/structure/board
members and ask for some sort of ratification vote. Please comment.

Jan 11 Agenda:

1. Barbara Will presentation - 30 minutes
     Q&A, discussion - 30 minutes

2. Presentation on Disaster Mutual Assistance Pact - 30 minutes

Announcement concerning Contra Costa Fire symposium

3. Business meeting - 30 minutes

    steeering committee

Handouts: IELDRN mutual aid pact

Other handouts? I need ideas on this. Maybe we could use Julie
O'Keefe's report on the Contra Costa fire?
