[AV Media Matters] reel-to-reel video tape

Folks,

We have some reel-to-reel video tapes from the late 60s, early seventies
that need to be archivally preserved.  We'd like to put them into a digital
domain but are not sure if there exists an archival standard for video
digitalization, and we are not sure where to look for such a standard.
Could anyone direct me to such a standard, inform me as to the current
archival standard for preserving video tape, or let me know what steps must
be taken to archivally preserve these rare video tapes?

Is there another list more appropriate to ask this question?
