Unlocking Audio 2: Connecting with Listeners 
16 & 17 March 2009
The British Library Conference Centre, London

Preliminary announcement

Unlocking Audio 2: Connecting with Listeners is an international
conference marking the end of the second phase of the British Library's
Archival Sound Recordings project, funded by the Joint Information
Systems Committee (JISC).

The conference will focus on how audio resources need to be prepared for
access in ways that researchers expect to discover, browse, audition and
analyse them on-line. 

Reviewing existing and emerging practices and technologies, the
conference will be of interest to:

*	content owners
*	service providers 
*	user groups 
*	resource managers 
*	system integrators 
*	designers and implementers of data mining, search and analysis
tools

The programme will include a social dinner and behind-the-scenes tours
of the audio facilities of the British Library Conservation Centre.
Space will be available for displaying posters and small exhibits.
