Re: [ARSCLIST] opera question (found!)

Dear Sue,

Veni, vidi, trovi!

The Norwegian Institute of Recorded Sound has the 3 sets in bound leather
that Karl mentions:

"Storia della musica italiana" (by Cesare Valabrega) Volumes I, II and III

In volume II, MLD 40001-2, on face 2, there are 2 excerpts of La Dori:

3. Marc'Antonio Cesti - La Dori o lo Schiavo Regio (Libretto di Apollonio
Apolloni - Firenze, 1661) (transcr. Robert Eitner)
a. "Non scherzi con Amor" (role of Arsete with tenor Piero Besma)
b. "Se perfido Amore" (roles of Celinda & Arsinoe, with sopranos Sonia
Cutopulo & Liliana Rossi)

Accompaniment is given in the booklet as being Giselle Marziale, cembalo,
and Complesso Barocco di Roma, dir. Piero Cavalli

(with thanks to our music librarian for finding it in our vaults and thanks
to Karl, it is now out of the vault and in the exhibition hall!)

Could this be of interest:
Cesti, A. La Dori o lo Schiavo Regio. Excerpts
in
MLD 40001; RCA Italiana
It is the second volume of those 10 disc sets bound in leather

Thank you to the responders to my opera query - I knew there would be
useful answers and was pretty much expecting what you all had to say.
