I think he's saying the same thing I am, that even the very best recordings
are a pale imitation of the real thing from the standpoint of making a
powerful emotional connection to the performer and the rest of the audience.
I know a few singers who can bring tears to my eyes. I've never heard a
record that could do that. And I'm about as huge a fan of records as anybody
I've ever known.
