There were two overtures to the opera, both by Cornelius. One in B minor came earlier than the one on the record. Liszt gets into the arrangement act also. See the footnote to the entry in WERM.

I find the whole work delighful with a fun ending. Saalam alleikum!

Peter Cornelius: The Barber of Bagdad (Angel/Eng. Columbia, 1956) concludes with an overture that is listed on the jacket as "Overture in D Major" and credited to Cornelius, but on the label it's listed as "The Mottl Overture". So which is it?
