[ARSCLIST] Index to Record Reviews

The "Index to Record Reviews" volumes are large, buckram-bound volumes. About 300 pp ea. They cover the materials analyzed quarterly in "Notes," the journal of the Music Library Association.

"Record Ratings" preceeded "Index".
Vols I-4 of index go through 1977. That's where my run leaves off.

One supplementary volume covers 1984-1987.

1978-1983 probably preceeds it.

I don't know if there was a further compilation.

I think Jerome Weber has a run. Chime in, Jerry?

My thoughts exactly! (And we've already made a nice little list of other
sources that we would use.)

I would love to learn more about the Myers Record Review supplements that
Steven Smolian made mention of. I was able to locate an online version of
the 1956 publication on www.questia.com:

http://www.questia.com/library/book/record-ratings-the-music-library-associa
tions-index-of-record-reviews-by-richard-s-hill-kurtz-myers.jsp

I have not had any luck finding any of the supplements (of which Steven
Smolian referred to). Could/would someone elaborate on what the supplements
are made of? Are they presented in the same format as the 1956 publication?
Similar in size? Number of pages? Date ranges addressed?

So...here is the information that all you LP-daters need! Now,
can it be made available in digital form...?!

(Note that while COPYING the contents of a copyrighted volume
is illegal...copying information from several different sources
and rearranging it to serve a different purpose is called "research"
[which I did a lot of for my 78 Dating Guide...])
