They don't work very well on textured inkjet-printable surfaces, just smooth silver/gold. They dry very fast. I'm a lefty, so if they were too smeary, I'd hate 'em. I've never timed it, but seems like 30 seconds is more than enough time to slip a marked disc in an envelope.

Can you pass on some brands to look for? With all the ones I've tried, the ink just beads up and smears off. I've taken to writing with Sharpies around the outer edge (past the area that's recorded) or, with disks that are almost full, in the hub area (yeah, I have to write pretty small).
