It worked for the files i tried to play. I refuse to install the 
"real" real player or quicktime on my computer.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have avoided RealNetworks products ever since a 
RealPlayer upgrade somehow put my CD drive out of commission. 

The problem with the alternates, as with any proprietary software, is that 
they are only useful as long as they are supported or until upgrades are made to 
operating systems or RealNetworks compression software.
