  This is a late message about Tom Fine's about the Longines LP set of "Jack 
Benny's Golden Age of Radio." I never bought any Longines Symphonette 
recordings, but I did buy that one. It's a winner. Just to have the bits of Fred Allen 
stealing Benny's pants and Lowell Thomas losing it in laughter on the air, 
all live, are worth it. 

  Knowing it was produced in Tom's father's studio makes it even more 
worthwhile.

One comment about Longines. They did one set to redeem themselves, at least a little bit. They used 
to do a lot of work out of my father's studio, by the way. The set I speak of is "Jack Benny's 
Golden Age of Radio," which included a lot of good snips of shows and Benny's sometimes funny 
commentary. The highlight, though, was a recreation of the famous "Cat Wife" show starring Boris 
Karloff.

As for the Longines music albums -- yeah, dreck. But they sold a ton of records.
