Re: [ARSCLIST] Non-RIAA preamp (was: WHY save as WAV's when Mp3's can do???)

Speaking of all this, who if anyone makes a pro-grade RIAA test LP these days? My old RCA and CBS LPs are very long in the tooth.

Along these lines, I use a similar device made by KAB, which is about $ 1,200.

The chain also includes a Klark Teknik graphic equalizer.

Every project is different, and there are appropriate tools for each situation. It's very subjective. However, there's nothing special about needing to de-click a phonograph record.

If you saw somewhere that a phono preamp sounds a lot better, then I have a
great solution for you: http://masterdigital.com/elberg/

The choice of tools depends on your particular situation.

But this does not answer how well the curve translates. Last time I saw
it discussed, the conclusion was it sounds a lot better in the pre, not
the computer... ignoring the special case of declicking, of course.

Does anyone have experience transferring LPs flat and then applying EQ in
the computer?

Yes. Some people believe that computer based de-clickers operate best this way, i.e. with no high end roll-off until after the de-clicking process.
