BWF began life as a European Broadcast Union standard with support mandated by member organization's purchase orders. 

It is the ONLY international standard audio file format and is not tied to any particular group of manufacturers or software developers. BWF files stand by far the best chance of being playable 100 years from now of any audio format.

> In addition to IASA, AES and NARAS recommend its use.
