read it again. Plus the Beatles hit in UK earlier. I fisrt heard of them in sophomore history class (appropriate!) in 1964. But I was generalizing the decline of the 45 to the sixties in general - a ten year period, and only for the popular hits - which I stopped paying attention to in about 1960... I said I was off! Niggle niggle...

Considering that the Beatles didn't hit the mainstream until 1963, I'd say
